Instructions for Creating a Profile

Please read all of the instructions carefully before creating your profile.

  1. On the Front Page for the course, click on the "Create a page" option, on the top right-hand corner.
  2. Name your page "FirstName LastName's Page" (ex: Joe Smith's Page)
  3. Under the "Put this page in a folder" menu, select the "Student Directory 2013" folder
  4. Select "Create page"
  5. Once you are able to edit the page, include the following information in your profile:
    1. Personal background: Where you are from, what you are studying, what you hope to pursue after your education, your personal interests, etc - whatever you would like the class to know about you)
    2. Interest in the course: Why did you choose to take this course? What are you excited / worried about?
    3. Vision or Aspiration as an Active Learner: In this section, I would like everyone to really think about what you are hoping to "get" out of your experience as an Active Learner. What skills and knowledge are you hoping to both share and gain? What strengths do you possess that could benefit the rest of the class? This section should be at least 300-400 words.
  6. As you are completing your profile, it is a good idea to occasionally hit the "Save and Continue" button on the bottom of the screen, to make sure you don't lose your work. Once you are satisfied with the content of your profile, hit the "Save" button.
  7. Once saved, copy the link found in the address bar at the top of your screen.
  8. Next, open the IDSB10 2013 Student Directory page in a new tab. Select the "Edit" tab at the top of the writing window. Add your name to the list of students. Use your mouse to highlight your name and then select the "Add link" icon at the top of the editing window. Paste the link from your personal profile into the "add link" box. Press "enter."
  9. "Save" the page.
  10. Test out your profile link to make sure it works.
  11. Finished!

These instructions may be a bit difficult to follow if you have never done this before. You may wish to watch some PBworks youtube tutorial videos beforehand, to get you familiar with how the platform works. I have provided two short videos below, that outline some of the very basic concepts for creating a page and linking that page. Please comment below if you have any questions!
